    Annabel Lee

    今天和一个朋友聊天聊到Edgar Allen Poe. 就忽然想去他的这首Annabel Lee. 做学生的时候就很喜欢这首诗,后来自己做老师的时候也极力给学生们推荐这首诗.现在离开校园了,回头再看这首,还是觉得很美. 为这份天使地狱魔鬼都嫉妒的爱情. 为这段童话般的爱情,为这段悲剧的爱情.

    It was many and many a year ago,
    In a kingdom by the sea,
    That a maiden there lived whom you may know
    By the name of Annabel Lee;
    And this maiden she lived with no other thought
    Than to love and be loved by me.

    I was a child and she was a child,
    In this kingdom by the sea;
    But we loved with a love that was more than love-
    I and my Annabel Lee;
    With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
    Coveted her and me.

    And this was the reason that, long ago,
    In this kingdom by the sea,
    A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
    My beautiful Annabel Lee;
    So that her highborn kinsman came
    And bore her away from me,
    To shut her up in a sepulchre
    In this kingdom by the sea.

    The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
    Went envying her and me-
    Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
    In this kingdom by the sea)
    That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
    Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

    But our love it was stronger by far than the love
    Of those who were older than we-
    Of many far wiser than we-
    And neither the angels in Heaven above,
    Nor the demons down under the sea,
    Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

    For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
    And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
    And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
    Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
    In the sepulchre there by the sea,
    In her tomb by the side of the sea.

    Annabel Lee
    by Edgar Allan Poe(1809 - 1849)

    It was many and many a year ago, 那 是 多 年 多 年 以 前 的 事,
    In a kingdom by the sea, 在 海 边 的 一 个 王 国 里,
    That a maiden there lived whom you may know 有个姑娘,你也许听说过,
    By the name of Annabel Lee; 她的名字叫做安娜贝·李
    And this maiden she lived with no other thought她除了和我相爱相随,
    Than to love and be loved by me. 没有别的想法。

    I was a child and she was a child, 她是个孩子,我是个孩子,
    In this kingdom by the sea: 在海边的这个王国里:
    But we loved with a love that was more than love - 以一种超越爱的爱而相爱
    I and my Annabel Lee; 我们——我和安娜贝˙李;
    With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven 这样的爱,连长着六 翼 的 天 使,
    Coveted her and me. 也对我们艳羡不已。

    And this was the reason that, long ago, 正是这个原因,有天,
    In this kingdom by the sea, 在海滨的这个王国里,
    A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling 从云端刮起一阵风,
    My beautiful Annabel Lee; 寒冷冻澈了美丽的安娜贝˙李,
    So that her high-born kinsmen came 她的高贵的亲属,
    And bore her away from me, 硬把我们拆散分离,
    To shut her up in a sepulchre 就在海滨的这个王国里,
    In this kingdom by the sea. 把她关进了墓穴。

    The angels, not half so happy in heaven, 天使在天堂并不怎样快乐
    Went envying her and me - 他们对我俩心怀妒忌——
    Yes! that was the reason (as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea)
    正是!——正是这个缘由 (众所周知,就在这海滨的王国里。)
    That the wind came out of the cloud one night, 夜黑,云暗,风起,
    Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. 冻杀了我的安娜贝˙李。

    But our love it was stronger by far than the love 但直到如今,我们的爱更加强烈
    Of those who were older than we - 比年长于我们的爱更深——
    Of many far wiser than we - 比智慧超过我们的爱更诚——
    And neither the angels in heaven above, 不是天上的天使,
    Nor the demons down under the sea, 也不是海底的妖精,
    Can ever dissever my soul from the soul 能拆散我们的魂灵——
    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee; 我和美丽的安娜贝˙李的魂灵。

    For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams 因为,每当月光轻柔的时候
    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee; 便带我进入美丽的安娜贝˙李的梦境;
    And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes 每当群星升起,我便看见
    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee; 美丽的安娜贝晶莹的眼睛;
    And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side 因此,漫漫长夜,我都躺在她的身边,
    Of my darling -my darling -my life and my bride, --我的生命,我的爱人,我的新娘的身边,
    In the sepulchre there by the sea - 在海边她的墓里——
    In her tomb by the sounding sea. 在这咆哮的大海边,她的墓地。

    有人说如果如果WHITMAN是平民, DICKINSON是隐士,那ALLEN POE就是鬼了...其实个人对这种GOTHIC STYLE是很怕的...
